901 Ummah hosts third annual MIST Reunion

The event kicked off at 7 o’clock with opening remarks by Fatema Habib and Saira Sikandar, followed by a soothing Quran recitation by Sister’s Quran memorization winner Deenat Yousef. Memphis Community holds annual Interfaith Dinner

Members of the Muslim, Christian, Jewish, and Hindu communities were invited to partake in a celebration of religion and to learn more about each other’s cultures. The guests filed into the building at 6 o’clock, exchanging pleasantries and getting to know each other before the night began. MIC hosts second 'Breaking Bread Interfaith' dinner

Flyer by Safi Khan On June 7th, the Memphis Islamic Center hosted a “breaking bread interfaith iftar” with members of Farmington Presbyterian Church and high school students interested in learning about Islam. These interested groups were invited to eat iftar with the youth of MIC and have their questions answered in regards to Ramadan and its meaning. As the final preparations were made for iftar outside the masjid, youth director Safi Khan led a group of interested members to the gazebo outside. Saira Sikandar hosts Photography Workshop

Photo by Azeem Ansari On Saturday June 2nd, Saira Sikandar hosted a photography workshop at the Memphis Islamic Center for all ages to learn some basic photo-taking skills using a phone camera. Saira enjoys photography as a hobby and mentioned that she cultivated this interest when her father gave her a camera at the age of eight. She held this workshop to teach simple tips and tricks that anyone can use without having had any prior experience.
