901 Ummah had the pleasure of hosting Mufti Hussain Kamani and his “Legends” series on Apr. 20 at Memphis Islamic Center.

The “Legends” series is a program which details the life of Abu Bakr Radhiallahu 'anhu and his impact on past Muslim communities.

At 7 o’clock that night, the audience began to spill into the masjid, ranging from teenagers to elders, all eager to hear the life of one of the most beloved companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Kamani entered to warm applause. He introduced himself, cracked a joke and started his talk by defining what it meant to be a Sahabah.

All eyes and ears were on Kamani, attentively soaking in the information the speaker presented and asking thought-provoking questions.

“It was, without a doubt, one of my favorite events so far this year,” said Mazen Istanbouli, an attendee. “I was able to glean valuable insight on the life of Abu Bakr Radhiallahu 'anhu.”

Kamani’s series benefited the community as a whole with many requests for a follow up on his class.

After his talk, many audience members stayed behind for more questions and to express their admiration for Kamani’s passionate, informative presentation.

At the end of the night, the audience adjourned for Isha prayer with a better understanding of the impact of Abu Bakr Radhiallahu 'anhu and a deeper appreciation for the Sahabah of the Prophet (PBUH).

“Mufti Kamani was a gem to the Memphis community,” said Saira Sikandar, an attendee. “His event was ‘legendary’ and we all benefited from his wisdom. Inshallah, we will be able to do so again in the future.”
